Installation and maintenance of fire alarm system.
“Elliott Electrical Limited have been using Fire Safety Services (UK) Ltd for a few years now, they do all our Fire Alarm Testing & Commissioning and Maintenance works.
We have found Fire Safety Services to be very reliable and very good at what they do. We have never had any problems with works that they have been involved in and this is also due to the pre-site visits that we have together so that everyone knows exactly what needs to be carried out prior to the installation.
We would certainly recommend Fire Safety Services for all your Fire alarm requirements.”
George Elliot – Managing Director, Elliot Electrical Limited
The Dune Group, which includes the Bertie & Chelsea Cobbler footwear and accessories brands, moved into the 43,000sq ft Elms Depot at Whetstone in Leicester, back in 2011. The premises are used for storage and despatch for its e-commerce business.
In 2014, the warehouse units occupied by the Dune Group underwent a significant fit-out with mezzanine floors and racking to provide much needed storage space for stock. Fire Safety Services (UK) Ltd were appointed by Elliott Electrical Ltd (a local electrical contractor) to design, supply and commission a new fire alarm system.
The Gent by Honeywell ‘Vigilon Compact’ system included detection underneath the mezzanine floors and utilised (Firebeam) reflective beam detectors at high level. The existing 4-zone conventional panel that covered other units was replaced with a new 8-zone panel and the two systems were interlinked.
The installation was commissioned in September 2014 and since then, Fire Safety Services (UK) Ltd have serviced and maintained the system.
Warehousing space across the UK has increased dramatically over recent years and looks to continue to grow in the future.
A warehouse environment presents many challenges for fire detection with varying fuel loads, ignition sources, large quantities and vertical arrangement of fuel loads making prediction of fire scenarios very difficult.
The environment is generally dirty, affecting the performance of traditional detection systems and generating false and potentially missed fire alarms. Getting the correct advice on the right type of fire alarm for your warehouse is vital and can drastically minimise false alarms and save your business money.
