New fire alarm system for care home.
“Holbrook Care Home has been working with Fire Safety Services since they installed our new fire alarm system back in January 2012. Since then they have been contracted to carry out six monthly maintenance inspections of our fire alarm system.
Fire Safety Services are an extremely professional and quality fire safety company. They have experience of working in a care home environment and have an appreciation of the sensitivities involved when working with elderly and vulnerable adults. They are always courteous and we trust any recommendations they make in order to keep us fully compliant with fire safety legislation. We feel confident that our staff, residents, visitors and premises are kept safe at all times.
We would have no hesitation in recommending their services to another Care Home or business premises.”
Holbrook Hall is a beautiful William & Mary period country house set in 4 acres of lawn, woodland, fruit trees and rose gardens that was converted into a residential care home in 1985. It is owned by Fairway Homes (Derby) Ltd and has 35 individual rooms.
In the Summer of 2011, a new extension was being constructed and Fire Safety Services (UK) Ltd were appointed by Hayward Electrical & Mechanical Services Ltd (a local electrical contractor) to supply and commission a new fire alarm system that had been designed by Haleys-RAP (a Nottingham based electrical consultant).
The new Gent by Honeywell “Vigilon Compact” analogue addressable system was designed throughout the new extension and was also required to interface to the original Chubb Zonemaster 2-zone conventional system in the original building. This was achieved by replacing the original control panel with a mains powered interface that allowed the addressable interface on the new system to directly control both the existing conventional detection & sounder circuits.
The completed installation was finally commissioned on the 3rd January 2012 and since then, Fire Safety Services (UK) Ltd have serviced and maintained the system.
A Care Home is a sensitive environment with elderly residents of varying abilities and many provide home to those with a range of disabilities and mental health issues such as Alzheimer’s or Dementia.
Therefore, the role of a Fire Safety Technician holds great responsibility not only to ensure your fire safety equipment will operate correctly and efficiently when required, but also to work in a considerate manner around these vulnerable adults.
The press is constantly reporting on fire safety breaches and prosecutions due to non-compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and many Care Homes get caught out and hit with huge fines for breaches of fire safety regulations.
Don’t risk the safety or lives of your staff, residents and visitors. Fire Safety Services is third-party certificated in all areas of fire safety which means you can rest assured that you are kept fully compliant at all times.
